| Association for Children with a Disability
The Association for Children with a Disability (www.acd.org.au) is non-profit statewide organisation that provides information, support and advocacy to families who have a child with any type of disability in Victoria. We offer free telephone support via our Parent Support Workers, who are themselves parents of a child with a disability, about any issue that relates to having a child with a disability eg. education, aids and equipment, respite etc.
Free information booklets are available to families including: Through the Maze: A Guide to Benefits and Services for Families of Children with a Disability (Victoria), Helping You and Your Family: Self-help Strategies for Parents of Children with a Disability and Supporting Siblings: When a Brother or Sister has a Disability or Chronic Illness. We also produce a bi-monthly magazine, NoticeBoard which includes family stories and other information.
The Association also auspices a national association, the Australian Association for Families of Children with Disability (www.acd.org.au) to inform the federal government about the needs and issues for families who have a child with a disability.
